‘This residency wasn’t prearranged and had no production budget. Simply a flight and the opportunity to digress from my other projects for a month in a town which I would probably never have visited without this invitation.
A single month in which to explore the question of free time and its cortège of potential stressors.
Experiment with the feelings of inaction, of emptiness.
Swing between interior peace and boredom, between solitude and the intense feelings of being in a town that demands for nothing but to be explored, maybe.

I speak German sufficiently well that people forget to speak slowly in conversation with me. But day after day, my patience threshold diminished, and a moment came when my ears became closed and I could listen no more., I am on an island, the German people swimming around me, and my interior dialogue began. I allowed myself to be transported on a sea of sounds without form.

...To be alone amongst lonely people, seated for hours, freed from language. I filmed people without their knowing it, in their ineffable moments, and I took these images like a thief, without telling them anything".
